Hair extension maintenance is the salon work that keeps an existing fitting under review as your natural hair grows. It is different from washing and brushing at home. A check-up, a refit or a removal?
A maintenance check looks at the fitted sections and any changes since your last visit. A refit refreshes the placement of reusable extensions. A removal takes out the current fitting; it does not automatically include putting the hair back in. Describe what you need when enquiring so the correct option can be arranged.
Why the method matters
Nano bead and stick-tip appointments involve individual attachment points. A weft appointment concerns the fitted rows. Tape refits need a different process, while keratin bonds have their own removal and replacement requirements. A booking category for one method should not be used as a substitute for another.
Choose the correct grams
The service list includes different amounts of hair, such as 50g, 100g, 150g and 200g. These distinguish the scale of the appointment, rather than a promise that every client needs the same quantity. Timing should match your fitting
Keep the maintenance plan agreed at your installation. Growth rate, method, natural hair condition and home care all affect when a check or refit is needed. Some booking options distinguish visits up to eight weeks from later visits. Confirm which option applies rather than treating the longest interval as a target for everyone.
Can your existing hair be reused?
Kirsty checks the extensions before deciding whether they remain suitable for refitting. Their condition, method and previous care matter. The cost of a refit is separate from buying replacement hair unless your quote states otherwise. Mention any extensions fitted elsewhere so compatibility can be discussed.
Before your appointment
